[[Francis Lucille]] #video Why Does Self-Realization or Enlightenment Even Matter? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sC7TXuZpcBE 0:00 i guess i really am coming down to what 0:02 is the point 0:04 where is the meaning 0:07 and even the meaning of happiness is in 0:09 being happy 0:11 there is nothing beyond that 0:14 that's what i said it's happiness stupid 0:17 you know 0:18 there is no meaning to happiness beyond 0:20 being happy 0:21 you can you can challenge the meaning of 0:23 happiness only from a vantage point of 0:26 unhappiness 0:28 when you are happy 0:30 you don't challenge happiness you are 0:32 too busy being happy 0:35 but 0:36 in this 0:37 body-mind world that we live in you 0:40 cannot know happiness without knowing 0:41 unhappiness everything is comes to to 0:44 you in opposites no there has to be both 0:47 ends of the poem wait a minute 0:49 everything comes into opposites within 0:52 the realm of objects within the realm of 0:55 perceptions if you are black you have 0:58 white 0:59 if you have hot you have cold 1:02 if you are 1:03 big you are small etc 1:05 all of that 1:07 is within the realm of phenomenality of 1:10 perception 1:12 so your assumption 1:14 is that happiness to 1:17 the experience of happiness belongs to 1:19 the world of phenomena in which case you 1:23 would be right and then if happiness 1:27 were a phenomenon 1:29 like black and white then there would be 1:32 happiness 1:33 and 1:34 unhappiness 1:36 but that is conditioned by the 1:39 assumption you have made 1:41 that happiness 1:43 is 1:44 an objective phenomenal experience now 1:49 and that's what most people believe 1:53 and they believe that happiness is 1:55 phenomenal that's why 1:57 they seek happiness in phenomena 2:00 in objects 2:02 and they usually apply the recipe that 2:06 they have inherited from their parents 2:08 from society for happiness right to have 2:12 a good type of education the good type 2:15 of job the good type of relationship the 2:19 good type of kids the good type of house 2:22 the good type of car in the driveway and 2:25 a good type of grave 2:29 at the end this 2:30 is a nice tree on top of it 2:33 especially in california not to get 2:35 sunburned 2:39 you see that recipe 2:41 but 2:42 before we apply the recipe inherited 2:45 from our parents and teachers 2:48 did we ask the question are they happy 2:54 were they happy it was very kind of them 2:57 to 2:58 to hand down to us their recipe for 3:00 happiness 3:02 but in fact they were unhappy 3:04 they were miserable so what they have a 3:06 hand down to us 3:10 what we have inherited from them 3:12 is their misery 3:15 and we have inherited from them from 3:17 them their recipe for misery 3:20 in hindsight i look at my parents they 3:21 were miserable 3:24 and i've been miserable for some times 3:26 you know 3:28 but at some point some of us realize 3:31 the recipe doesn't work 3:35 then we try to extend in our in our life 3:37 to go beyond what our parents have told 3:41 us we 3:42 we go we break the the limitations and 3:44 we go wide we go beyond that you know 3:49 in all kinds of areas but still 3:53 we don't find it there 3:55 at some point 3:56 the question arises 3:59 perhaps 4:00 the happiness is simply not where i am 4:03 looking for it 4:05 perhaps the happiness is not in the 4:07 object in objective experience is an 4:10 inner sensorial experience in a mind 4:12 experience 4:15 perhaps it is somewhere else now you 4:17 know that's what 4:20 sherlock holmes says you know 4:22 when the 4:27 when the impossible has been eliminated 4:31 the improbable becomes certain 4:36 you see now 4:38 the impossible was the old 4:40 recipes what was improbable is for 4:44 happiness to be somewhere else than the 4:46 than in the object but once the objects 4:49 have been eliminated 4:50 what is the other 4:53 element 4:54 in our experience other than the 4:56 phenomena 4:59 it's consciousness 5:01 so now listen 5:03 what if 5:04 what we call happiness 5:07 were simply 5:08 the experience of consciousness 5:11 knowing itself 5:14 knowing itself in its peace in its 5:17 fullness in its eternity 5:20 in its love 5:22 in its splendor 5:25 you see what if 5:27 because if happiness were truly a 5:30 phenomenal experience we would have 5:32 found it 5:35 or somewhere would have found it you 5:37 know 5:39 and told us you know i found it it's 5:41 there so just go there 5:43 you know there is this special 5:45 piece of chocolate you know 5:48 that you find 5:49 in the 5:50 himalayas and all you have to do you eat 5:53 that and that's it 5:56 if that existed 6:00 over the millionaire it would have been 6:02 found 6:04 but those who have found it it's very 6:06 difficult to point at it 6:08 because 6:09 it is nowhere to be found in this world 6:13 in this body in this mind 6:16 it's a different direction 6:19 so 6:22 what does it matter 6:24 it's because no matter what you too 6:28 you are seeking happiness you too 6:30 by coming here 6:32 and asking this question 6:34 the only reason why you would ask a 6:36 question 6:38 is because you are seeking happiness 6:40 you see and we need this deep honesty 6:43 you know in the in our within our own 6:46 counsel of our own soul if you will to 6:48 be true to what is it that i want 6:52 if someone comes here 6:54 and tells me 6:56 i don't want happiness 6:58 i would tell this person 7:01 be my guest 7:03 and be my guest to live 7:06 because 7:07 here the only thing 7:09 we have in this store 7:12 to offer 7:13 is happiness so if it is not that which 7:15 you are seeking 7:17 go somewhere else 7:19 you see 7:25 now 7:26 upon about that which i have said before 7:29 i said it very quickly 7:33 although it's it's the most important 7:36 point 7:36 so i'm going to make it loud and clear 7:38 and repeat it 7:42 happiness is simply the experience of 7:46 consciousness knowing itself 7:50 directly 7:52 by itself 7:55 enjoying itself loving itself 7:59 that's what it is 8:02 now if we want to feel 8:05 or to know or to have an idea of what 8:09 the experience of truth or 8:12 of consciousness 8:14 feels like 8:15 the answer is it feels like happiness 8:19 you see 8:21 and because 8:24 consciousness 8:26 is not an object 8:29 the 8:32 the experience of objective life 8:37 and the experience 8:38 of happiness which is consciousness 8:40 knowing itself 8:43 are not mutually exclusive 8:46 in other words you can have both 8:48 together at the same time 8:51 you can have one without the other in 8:54 other words you can have happiness pure 8:56 unalloyed happiness in the absence of 8:58 objects 9:01 there is no time there 9:04 it's your true nature 9:07 it's the eternal moment 9:10 but you can have it also 9:12 in the presence of time of space 9:16 and 9:17 of the objects 9:21 first usually we go to it 9:23 in the absence of objects 9:26 but then 9:29 we understand 9:32 that the objects 9:34 are not an impediment 9:38 okay that 9:41 that which i have just told you 9:43 is the full enchilada
