Hi Holger, What finds thoughts important? Thought. The interest that we attribute to thought is also a thought. It is less concrete than most thoughts, but it is a mental layer nonetheless. Awareness does not look with interest. It simply looks. It is like a blank stare in which whatever is seen, is seen, without any agenda. It is like a river-bed. It just supports the flow of the river. It doesn't have any intentions for where or how the water should flow. Only a person may come and try to manipulate the flow for his own interests. That person is the mind. We must stop believing our Self to be the mind which is interested. We must begin to see our Self as the awareness which simply knows. This is one of the cornerstones of spiritual practice and Self inquiry meditation.
