In this guided meditation on the pathless path Rupert invites us to examine the distance between us and God and to see that, ultimately, there is none. He urges us to abandon the journey and the compulsion to ‘do’ in order to get to a place of peace. He says try to let go of the idea and, more importantly, the feeling that there is a path to tread or a journey to undertake in order to find peace or enlightenment or God. There is no distance from the self we seem to be to the self we truly are. And therefore there is no room for practice, effort or discipline. As a concession to our desire to do something, we could say that just the slightest refocusing is required — being aware of being in the midst of experience. All experience shines brightly with the knowing of it and peace is the very nature of our Self.
